Educational systems in Africa witnessed unprecedented disruptions due to COVID-19. Almost 300 million learners from Africa were forced out of classrooms for over a year. Although government interventions, such as online and accelerated learning as well as catch-up programs, were essential in supporting continuity of learning and mitigating the short-term consequences of the COVID-19 school closures, little is known about the longer-term consequences of the pandemic on education, especially from the perspective of local education stakeholders.
