Regional Conference on Mathematics and Science Education in Africa
The Inter-Country Quality Node on Mathematics and Science Education (ICQN-MSE) in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) of Kenya and Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) have organised a continental conference that will bring together Directors of Education from 31 African countries, Development Partners, Academia, and ADEA Secretariat.
The conference will take place on 15-17 March 2016 at CEMASTEA in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Conference will seek to attain the following five objectives which also embody its significance:
- To get momentum for African countries to put MSE strategy into implementation in light of the SDGs and the forthcoming TICADVI;
- To promote mutual learning for better knowledge creation in MSE;
- To bring concerted efforts and collaboration by African countries and development partners;
- To provide current trends and cutting-edge innovations in education in Africa;
- To provide opportunities for African countries to reflect their MSE strategies in alignment with the SDGs.
During the conference, ICQN-MSE will be officially launched, ADEA offices at CEMASTEA opened and the inaugural ICQN-MSE Regional Steering Committee held. The conference is open to all who want to participate but at own cost since the organisers have only limited funds to cater for country representatives.
