IsDB‐TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme for Women for Skills-Building in Sustainability Science
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and The World Academy of Sciences (UNESCO-TWAS) launch the 2021 IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowships Programme for Women.
The Programme fosters gender equality and supports the participation of women in science.
The Programme:
- Is targeted to young female researchers from 21 IsDB Least developed member countries (LDMCs): Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea‐Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Uganda and Yemen.
- Provides 3-6 months’ postdoc research training in sustainability science in a developing country
- Is based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The Fellowship:
- A monthly allowance for expenses (e.g. accommodation)
- An allowance for laboratory bench costs up to $2,565
- A Round‐trip air ticket up to $1,000.
Female scientists applying must:
- Be a national of and resident in an IsDB LDMC
- Be no older than 45
- Hold a PhD degree in one of the Programme’s research areas
- Be employed at an institution in their home country
- Choose and receive an acceptance letter from a host institute in a developing country from this list.
Awarded female scholars must:
- Not take up other assignments during the fellowship
- Present a research plan agreed by host supervisor
- Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members, as well as for visa, health insurance and housing.
