David Chukwuma Izuogu
David is a graduate of Pure & Industrial Chemistry and holds a masters in Nanoscience from Tohoku University, Japan. He completed his PhD in Computational Chemistry at the University of Cambridge where he investigated materials that hold promise for single-molecule magnet behaviour for quantum information process, spintronics, magnetic refrigerating, and medical imaging among others. David was a Research Associate for the Education Sub Sahara Africa and contributed immensely to the research and publication of the 2021/2022 African Research output on the ESSA database.
David is entrepreneurial and has founded both a not-for-profit as well as a profit venture in the past. He is the founder of Africa of Our Dream Initiative, a not-for-profit organisation through which he seeks to build a new Africa where individuals would thrive and have access to the basic things of life by investing in health, education, and opportunities, as well as in the human capital for sustained prosperity. He is passionate about social good and has won series of award for making social impact including the University of Cambridge Vice-Chancellor Social Impact Award.
He has experience as a Venture Associate working with Start Codon, a venture capital firm investing in the biotech space. His postdoctoral fellowship was focussed on commercialisation of scientific research and development of a roadmap for venture funding in the biotech space in Africa. He currently consults for McKinsey & Company as well as supports teaching and research activities across different universities in Africa.
