ICQN on TVSD holds seminar on youth employment

The ADEA Inter-Country Quality Node on Technical and Vocational Skills Development (ICQN/TVSD) organized an “Inter-Country Seminar on Youth Employment in Africa” in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on March 31-April 1, 2014. The objective of the seminar was to prepare for the ministerial conference on youth employment to be held on July 21-23, 2014, also in Abidjan.

Representatives of 24 African countries were requested to produce in-depth analytical reports on the strategies adopted by their respective countries to promote workforce integration, employment and job creation for young people. All the country reports will be analyzed and synthesized in order to produce a general report, which, together with proposals for actions in favor of youth employment, will be the principal working document of the ministerial conference.

The ministerial conference will be organized by the ICQN/TVSD in collaboration with the German, French, Swiss, Luxembourg and Canadian cooperation agencies, as well as with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Organisation internationale de la francophonie (OIF), and will be headed up by the Minister of State for Employment, Social Affairs and Vocational Training of Côte d’Ivoire, in partnership with ADEA. It will adopt a regional action plan for youth employment in Africa.
