ADEA participates in DAAD roundtable on higher education
ADEA’s Acting Executive Secretary participated in an Expert Roundtable on higher education organized by The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Johannesburg, April 7-8 2014.
DAAD is a member of the extensive network of partner organizations working in higher education, which ADEA’s Working Group on Higher Education (WGHE) has developed over the last 24 years. The objective of the workshop was to inform the development of DAAD’s new higher education strategy.
Mr. Boukary made a presentation on ADEA’s contribution to higher education development in Africa since 1989 [see attached]. The presentation focused on both the achievements made by ADEA WGHE over its 24 years of existence and ADEA’s new agenda on scientific and technological skills and competencies within the tertiary education sub-sector.
The mission was also an opportunity to discuss the future of ADEA’s Working Group on Higher Education (WGHE).
Furthermore, ADEA was invited by UNESCO and the Association of African Universities (AAU) to contribute to an initiative that will consist of proposing alternative models of financing higher education in Africa. The first phase of this initiative is a stock-taking and analytical exercise of existing innovative financing schemes in Africa.
