ADEA joins forces with AUDA-NEPAD, AU-ESTI, ATUPA, UNESCO, and GIZ to shape Continental TVET Strategy implementation framework

Between 3rd and 4th April, ADEA participated in a pivotal workshop convened by AUDA NEPAD in Johannesburg, South Africa, to develop an implementation framework for the Continental Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Strategy.
The two-day session brought together key partners to outline a roadmap, methodology, and coordination mechanisms that will guide the rollout of the strategy. Participants also developed proposals for strategic partnerships, resource mobilization, and a timeline for implementation, all designed to translate policy into meaningful impact across the continent.
The implementation plan will be led by AUDA-NEPAD's Human Capital and Institutional Development (HCID) directorate, with strong collaboration from the African Union Commission (AUC), Regional Economic Communities (RECs), member states, and development partners including ADEA.
Our Senior Program Officer, Shem Bodo, joined a cross-section of contributors, including KfW, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the African Union Commission Department of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI), and the Skills Initiative for Africa (SIFA). Together, the team is working to ensure that the implementation process builds on previous continental frameworks such as the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA), STISA-2024, and past regional TVET strategies.
As Africa embraces the Africa Skills Revolution, this framework will serve as a key lever for expanding access to quality, inclusive, and market-relevant TVET programs - supporting youth employment and continental development.
