Inaugural Planning and Coordination Workshop of the Continental Steering Committee, AU Decade of Education and Skills Development (2025–2034)
Format: In person, by invitation. Internal session, closed to the public and the media.
Organizer: ADEA, as Secretariat of the Continental Steering Committee, with the AUC Department of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI) as Chair.
Overview:
The Continental Steering Committee (CSC) was set up in 2026 as an orchestration platform for the AU Decade of Accelerated Action for the Transformation of Education and Skills Development (2025–2034). In May 2026, the AUC ESTI Commissioner appointed ADEA as the Committee's Statutory Member and Secretary. This closed workshop brings senior representatives of member institutions together for the first time to move from mandate to action. It marks the formal launch of the Committee's operational phase.
What the workshop will do:
- Review and adopt the Committee's Terms of Reference.
- Clarify the roles and responsibilities of member institutions.
- Develop a workplan and roadmap for 2026–2027.
- Agree how members will coordinate resources, track results and communicate on the Decade.
- Clarify how the Committee works with the CESA Thematic Clusters, the Regional Economic Communities and national coordination mechanisms.
