Foundational Learning beyond the Year of Education for Africa

Published on

The second edition of the Africa Foundational Learning Exchange (FLEX 2024) in Kigali, Rwanda, provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing, lesson learning, and engagement of partners working in foundational learning. A major outcome of the event was the Ministerial Declaration for Action, which rallied countries around a common goal of ending learning poverty in Africa by 2035. Achieving this goal will require efforts to improve teaching methods, identify and scale initiatives that work, ensure systems and classroom level alignment around policies, address infrastructure shortages, improve the use of EdTech in learning delivery, and leverage data to support decision-making and ensure accountability. In this podcast, Rosa Robinson from Hempel Foundation reflects on the key achievements from FLEX 2024 and shares her projections for FLEX 2025.
