Whizz Education is recruiting a Country Manager, Kenya

Overview

A revolution is happening in the education sector. Schools around the world are changing their educational tools and moving towards online solutions in order to meet every student’s individual needs. Whizz Education is part of that change, and is currently seeking an International Business Manager to lead a project delivering tutoring for 100,000 marginalized children in Kenya.

Full description

Managing and delivering the in-Kenya requirements and deliverables of the GEC initiative called iMlango. Developing and managing on the ground staff to support project trainers in delivering large scale in-school training programs and achieving project objectives. Managing relationships at multiple levels ranging from project partners, local ministry departments and schools. On the back of an agreed Kenya strategy managing and driving the local business development efforts.

Potential to Do List

Within 1 Month:

  • Gain understanding of Whizz, its products and its in-Kenya projects and strategy.
  • Learn and understand Maths-Whizz, and be accomplished at presenting Whizz.
  • Develop relationships with all in-Kenya stakeholders and manage delivery of local objectives.
  • Liaise with London team through International Business/iMlango Manager to support delivery of on the ground requirements.
  • Participate in the initial training of the partners within Imlango.
  • Begin recruitment and oversee training and development of local Customer Success and training personnel.

Within 3 months:

  • Successful delivery of the training roll out of all partner field teams to ensure positive school take up of Maths-Whizz.
  • Take over and further develop relationships on behalf of Whizz within the Ministry of Education and KICD.
  • Drive continued training, support and monitoring of partners and schools within iMlango
  • Continue to absorb onboarding process and participate in local sales and business development
  • Support Whizz’s Kenyan partner, to plan for integration of English software into training plan.
  • Establish business development plan for local private school and international school market

12 Months:

  • Be able to take over management of the Kenya operation, hire and drive its resources to achieve iMlango.
  • Build upon and develop the sustainability plan that will support ongoing access to the iMlango schools.
  • Aim for iMlango schools to have achieved x% completed assessments and positive usage.

Skills Sets / Experience / Mind-Set

  • Experienced in delivering educational projects in challenging environments. (ICT based projects preferred though not essential)
  • Ability to handle bureaucratic processes as well as strong human relationship and selling skills
  • Ability to project manage with strong organizational and reporting skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Passionate about education and making an impact on end learners and stakeholders
  • International experience and enjoys travel and adventure
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and management expertise
  • Experience in Kenya (highly preferred)
