ADEA produces reports and policy briefs on Education Reconstruction for Peace

In 2011, within the framework of the theme of Common Core skills for lifelong learning and sustainable development in Africa, the ADEA Working Group on Education Management and Policy Support of ADEA (Association for the Development of Education in Africa) conducted studies around the theme of Education Reconstruction in Post Crisis Countries in Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Liberia and Zimbabwe.

The studies tentatively identified management conditions that facilitate reconstruction of the education sector in a post-conflict or post-crisis situation. A key finding is that progress is being made by the Ministries of Education but there is need for improvement to address the challenges that remain.

The working group produced individual country, and a synthesis, policy brief in addition to the main country study reports. The synthesized policy brief was presented and discussed at the 2012 ADEA Triennale in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Two national policy dialogue forums have since been conducted in Kenya (July 2012) and DRC (September 2012) which discussed the reports and made policy level recommendations.

The reports and policy briefs are available for download here.
