City:
Johannesburg
Country:
South Africa

Overview

The Global Campaign for Education is the world's biggest civil society movement working to realise the right to quality education for all. The GCE World Assembly is our governing body, bringing members of the GCE movement together to reflect on our achievements, share knowledge, discuss current and emerging issues in global education and engage in shared strategic planning for the next four years.

The World Assembly opens with the Right to Education 2000-2030 Public Forum, at which GCE members and allies from all over the world will gather to discuss crucial and emerging issues in education, with a focus on progress and lessons from 2000 to 2015, and on our vision for education 2015 to 2030. It closes with a two-day Global Learning Event, which brings together over fifty education coalitions supported by the Civil Society Education Fund.

As well as GCE members, the World Assembly welcomes other actors across the education movement, making the World Assembly one of the biggest international gatherings of activists in the education sector.

About the Assembly

The Global Campaign for Education is hosting six days of events dedicated to discussion, debate and shared learning for the civil society education movement. 2015 is a crucial year for the whole development community, and for the education sector there could be no better time to come together to reinforce our joint efforts to influence both the Education For All framework and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Over 200 participants are expected to attend this series of events running 23-28 February 2015, in Johannesburg, South Africa. As well as the GCE membership, we welcome participation from partners, supporters, experts and other figures from the education and development community in order to further our shared working and knowledge.
